New exam date for Reynold Weekes Class 4 students

Social Share It appears that Class 4 pupils at Reynold Weekes Primary School will not be joining the thousands of other children sitting today’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE). One of them tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. A letter addressed to parents from principal Anderson Bishop stated that the students would have to take an alternative test next month. “Please be informed that a Class 4 student has tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing has already started with select class members. Unfortunately, this contact tracing may not be completed by Wednesday, July 28, 2021. “To this end, the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, after considering multiple options, is now recommending that all students of Class 4  . . . write the alternative BSSEE scheduled for 11 August 2021,” it said.

Social Share Face-to-face instruction for Class 3 and 4 pupils at Blackman and Gollop Primary School resumed today but some parents are still displeased. Parent Lester King described the conditions which parents encountered at the school on Monday as “extremely horrible”. “There was no reason children had to come to school to find dirty desks and chairs in the hall. The ministry was wrong to allow the children to come when they knew the school wasn’t ready the Sunday before,” he said. Even so, King said he was glad conditions had improved as the children needed face-to-face teaching.

Ash still a barrier to some classes - Barbados Today

Ash still a barrier to some classes Article by May 6, 2021 Environmental issues associated with large amounts of dust and ash on the island have left education officials considering hiring external assistance to supplement the work of ancillary staff at public schools. Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training Santia Bradshaw is however rejecting the notion that her ministry was in some way unprepared for the face-to-face resumption of school on Monday. She revealed that a massive effort from the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) was underway to prepare the Blackman and Gollop School for classes as early as Thursday. This is one of the only schools that has not yet been reopened.
