Functionally, I mean. Nominally the answer is yes. Impeachment proceedings haven’t begun yet. The 25th Amendment process hasn’t begun yet.
But there’s chatter about both options this morning on Capitol Hill.
What I mean is, are executive branch officers still answering to Trump?
@VP office confirms Pence ran the security operation from Capitol Hill consulting with almost everyone except the President. WTF? Who is in charge of the government right now.
Lockhart’s correct about Pence’s unusual role in security operations yesterday. Trump had previously delegated authority to command the D.C. National Guard to defense secretary Chris Miller, but of course Miller could have consulted with the president about what to do. He didn’t. According to WaPo and CNN, he spoke to Pence, not Trump.

The President has directed the National Guard to the Capitol Building after it was besieged by supporters of his, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Wednesday.
At President @realDonaldTrump’s direction, the National Guard is on the way along with other federal protective services.
We reiterate President Trump’s call against violence and to remain peaceful.
Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller confirmed the move in a statement later on Wednesday.
Notably, Miller said he spoke about the move with top political leaders but not President Trump.
In the statement, Miller said that he and Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had spoken with Vice President Mike Pence, Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
A shooting victim has also been transported from the U.S. Capitol, according to reports.
“Violent opportunists at the US Capitol grounds must be held accountable. We have a proud history of resolving our differences through peaceful means,” he added:

Argentine Senate approves abortion
Argentina becomes the third country in Latin America (after Cuba and Uruguay) to completely decriminalize abortion until the 14th week of gestation. This law had already been approved in the House of Representatives and was only missing approval in the Senate. This last step was achieved this week with an overwhelming majority (38 senators in favor, 29 against and a single abstention), Congress approved the historic law.

CBP Chief Mark Morgan was censored by Twitter and his account locked. After backlash, Twitter reversed their decision, claiming it was a mistake, as they always do. This is the quote that got Mr. Morgan locked out of his account: “CBP and the Army Corps of Engineers continue to build new wall every day. Every mile helps us stop gang members, murderers, sexual predators, and drugs from entering our country. It’s a fact, walls work.”
These people are crazy and claimed the tweet was violent.
