Since that time there s been a high volume of feedback, and I ve actually read most of them, Dempster said.

Joe told CBC News on Thursday he s OK with renaming the lake something else, and the idea came about while looking for a peaceful place for a monument to Nonosabasut and Demasduit along the shore. The monument was designed by a young Mi kmaw girl, Joe said, adding the process has had Mi kmaq involvement the whole way through.

, Jonathan Dowdall, 43, has been charged with the murder of David Byrne. Byrne was killed on February 5, 2016 when five armed men stormed a boxing weigh-in show at the Regency Hotel in Dublin. Byrne was an alleged top lieutenant in the Kinahan Organized Crime Group (KOCG).
Dowdall is a former Dublin north inner city councillor who represented the Sinn Féin party. In 2017 Dowdall was sentenced to 12 years in prison for imprisoning and torturing a man in his home in 2015. Footage recovered from a mobile phone showed Dowdall waterboarding the man while his father, Patrick Dowdall, threatened to pull the man’s fingers off with a pair of pliers. During the assault the Dowdalls told their victim that they were members of the Irish Republican Army (IRA).

With many retailers still reeling from the impact of the lockdowns, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has proposed extending the application period of requirements that cover the accounting treatment of temporary rent concessions granted due to the pandemic by one year.
The amendments would be effective for accounting periods beginning on or after January 1, and apply to concessions with regard to rental payments that would fall due before June 30, 2022. The amendments can be early adopted.
The time period has been extended from the original proposals in reflection of the continuing impact of the pandemic.

The decision to rename Red Indian Lake is causing tension and fraying Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations in central Newfoundland, say some people in the area, as they speak out against the way the process has so far been handled.

Many concert halls and theatres are preparing to reopen from May 17, with an eagerly anticipated summer programme. Helmsley Arts Centre (HAC) has announced their plans to reopen on May 18 (Tuesday) with a range of activities, cinema screenings and live performances. It’s certainly been an extremely tough year, said Natasha Jones, artistic director at HAC.
