The Feilding Art Society has high hopes that Karis Evans will take the centre into the future. The building was owned by the society and located a short block from the middle of town. The first floor studio space was under construction, but Evans had high hopes for what the society and community could make of it. “We’re thinking public workshops, private studio time, a paint and wine session. art is not just a snobby or sophisticated thing,” she said. “Some are old-fashioned and think art can be high or low. for me those boundaries are irrelevant.” Evans moved to Palmerston North for the job, originally hailing from Wellington, but spent much of her childhood staying with family in Feilding.
