Non-profits to feed more than 1,000 families through food distribution at Cajun Field Ashley White, Lafayette Daily Advertiser © SCOTT CLAUSE/USA TODAY Network Volunteers from United Way of Acadiana, Second Harvest Food Bank and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette distribute food supplies at a contact-free, drive-thru food distribution for anyone experiencing economic hardship. Wednesday, May 27, 2020. United Way of Acadiana, Second Harvest Food Bank and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette are hosting a food distribution to help feed more than 1,000 families.  The distribution will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Cajun Field, 2351 W. Congress Street. It s designed to help families who have been impacted by COVID-19 or other disasters. 

Chevron and Second Harvest Distribute Holiday Meals to 600 Families Across Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes

My New Orleans 12/23/2020 LAKE CHARLES, La (press release) – On Dec. 22, Second Harvest Food Bank of Southwest Louisiana distributed holiday staples, such as turkeys, canned goods, vegetables and more, to 600 families in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes. Chevron contributed $50,000 to the initiative as part of the company’s continued efforts to support residents of Southwest Louisiana, an area that continues to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Laura and other tropical storms. In addition to this food distribution, Second Harvest has already provided more than 3 million meals across Southwest Louisiana, including tens of thousands of prepared meals in the Second Harvest Community Kitchen, to people impacted by this year’s storms.
