Obese girls start their periods sooner, develop breasts slowly, get acne and have excess bodily hair

Obese girls approaching adolescence have elevated hormone levels that can lead them to start their periods before their slimmer peers, a new study has found.  Overweight girls are also at increased risk of irregular menstrual cycles, delayed breast development, acne and excessive bodily hair during puberty.   Previous research has also found fatter youngsters start puberty earlier but the new study is the first evidence as to why this may be the case.  Scroll down for video   Overweight girls are more likely to develop acne and excessive bodily hair as they go through puberty than their slimmer peers, a study claims (stock)
