It’s for 289 parcels in the Titetown and Nazko North area covering 66,711 hectares. An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises or property should it be required. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

New Gold Mine west of Quesnel gets provincial approval SHARE ON:    The Provincial Government has approved an early works permit for Artemis Gold’s Blackwater project.    The approval is the first step required for mine construction, allowing for the necessary site preparation and land clearing work to begin.    The Blackwater mine is estimated to be the largest gold mine development project in the Cariboo region of BC in the last decade.    “We welcome the development of the new Blackwater gold and silver mine,” said Bruce Ralston, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low-Carbon Innovation. “It will create high earning, long-term jobs, advance indigenous reconciliation, and supply some of the most responsibly mined gold and silver in the world, exemplifying British Columbia’s ESG advantage.”

Evacuation alert issued for Shesta Lake and Punchaw Lake area SHARE ON: Shesta Lake Evacuation Area (Regional District of Fraser Fort George) An evacuation alert has been issued by the Regional District of Fraser Fort George for the Shesta Lake and Punchaw Lake – electoral area ‘C’ and Nahlquonte 2 and Deep Creek 5 – Nazko First Nation. This is due to the active wildfires burning about 35 kilometers southwest of Prince George. According to the BC Wildfire Services, two out-of-control blazes are ongoing beside one another, one is about 11 hectares in size while the other is about 5.60 hectares. The fire near Punchaw Lake was discovered today (Thursday) and is believed to be caused by lightning.
