A landslide has closed the 4000 road west of Nazko.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development has confirmed that THE 4000 Road has been closed for geotechnical assessment.
The slide was reported on Monday morning by the natural resource manager for the Lhoosk’uz Dene Nation.
The slide is at 21.5 kilometre, approximately 27 kilometres west of Nazko and 135 kilometres west of Quesnel.
Alternate routes are available via the 3900 Road or Kluskus Connector Road.
The mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic opened today (April 14) inside Arena 2 in Quesnel.
The day started with a ceremony that included a drumming circle by the Nazko Drummers, opening prayers and blessings, and a smudging ceremony.
Daryl Petsul, Quesnel Health Services Administrator, said it took a couple of weeks for them to move the clinic from G-R Baker Memorial Hospital to the arena.
He added that the move allowed them to accommodate higher numbers at any given time and Quesnel Vaccine Clinic Lead Vanessa Salmons said it has increased the size of the staff as well.
“At the hospital, we only had the capacity based on COVID restrictions and space to have 4 immunizers at any given time and we have the elasticity here at the arena to go between 6 to 12 immunizers depending on the amount of vaccine that we’re delivered each week.”

The new multi-unit residential development would be located on 11 lots where the Native Friendship Centre site currently is.
Tanya Turner, the Director of Development Services, went over a few of the details at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting…
“Between the existing Friendship Centre and the daycare center building there is currently a vacant portion of land that is used for parking. The Quesnel Tillicum Society is intending on constructing a new 5-storey, 34-unit apartment building where this parking area is located. The units are to be geared towards low income individuals.”
