ATLANTA Remaining six feet apart, limiting capacity, and wearing a face-covering in classrooms have all become a part of life.
But now, many metro Atlanta schools are removing the mask mandate for vaccinated students following guidance recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC, on Thursday, eased mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings.
Georgia has already opened up vaccine appointments to adolescents, with both Pfizer’s and Moderna making it clear that kids 12 and older will receive the exact same two-dose vaccine regimen as adults.

MARIETTA, Ga. Marietta s schools and city buildings will begin easing mask requirements, following on the heels of the CDC s revised guidance that vaccinated people don t need to wear masks indoors.
Marietta City Schools confirmed to 11Alive Anchor Shiba Russell that vaccinated students and staff will not be required to wear masks, effective immediately.
The district had already begun to ease its mask policy some, removing a requirement for outdoor mask use earlier this month.

ATLANTA As the most populous county in Georgia, Fulton County is essentially at the epicenter of the state s efforts to distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccines.
After initially lagging behind much of the country in distribution efforts, Georgia has recently ramped up its rate of administering vaccines, and officials are optimistic the rates can continue to increase with the Joe Biden administration promising more doses on the way to states.
The Fulton County Board of Health district director, Dr. Lynn Paxton, spoke to 11Alive Anchor Shiba Russell on Thursday morning to outline some of how the process works:

ATLANTA Georgia s Senate runoff results will likely be very close, though unlike with the presidential election we should have a clearer idea of where things are headed on Election Night, an Emory political scientist said early Tuesday morning.
