CDC mask guidance, COVID mandates and metro Atlanta schools

Many metro Atlanta schools changed their COVID-19 policy to remove the mask mandate for vaccinated students. Author: Aprylete Russell Updated: 11:24 PM EDT May 14, 2021 ATLANTA Remaining six feet apart, limiting capacity, and wearing a face-covering in classrooms have all become a part of life.  But now, many metro Atlanta schools are removing the mask mandate for vaccinated students following guidance recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC, on Thursday, eased mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings.  Georgia has already opened up vaccine appointments to adolescents, with both Pfizer’s and Moderna making it clear that kids 12 and older will receive the exact same two-dose vaccine regimen as adults.

Georgia Senate results likely to be clearer by tonight

11Alive Anchor Shiba Russell spoke to Emory political scientist Andra Gillespie the morning of the runoffs. Author: Jonathan Raymond (11Alive), Shiba Russell Published: 11:45 AM EST January 5, 2021 Updated: 11:45 AM EST January 5, 2021 ATLANTA Georgia s Senate runoff results will likely be very close, though unlike with the presidential election we should have a clearer idea of where things are headed on Election Night, an Emory political scientist said early Tuesday morning. Emory professor Andra Gillespie told 11Alive Anchor Shiba Russell in an interview that we can expect the margins are going to be pretty narrow. This race statistically is tied, and because of that, you know, we expect the margins are going to be pretty narrow, Gillespie said. It s just a question of how narrow.
