Man charged with murder in connection to Fairview homicide investigation Megan Pacer © Provided by Anchorage KTUU-TV (KTUU) ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A man has been charged with murder and animal cruelty in connection with a homicide case in Fairview the Anchorage Police Department is investigating. Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at the 1000 block of Ingra Street just before 1 p.m. on Friday. According to a press release, they found a woman and her pet dog inside the home near Ingra Street and East 10th Avenue, both with “trauma” injuries. The woman died after being taken to an Anchorage hospital and the dog died after being taken to a local pet emergency center, officers reported.

McCoy, currently the deputy chief of police, replaces Justin Doll, who will be on leave until he officially retires over the summer. “For an announcement like this to be made during our 100th year, that our first African American chief is going to be at the helm, is very humbling and meaningful to me, and to my family, to this community,” McCoy said. “And I think it serves as a sign of hope that, you know, we can come together and we can heal and we can make positive change.”
