Killeen resident Jonathan Hildner has announced his intent to run for the 31st District seat for the U.S. House in a bid to unseat longtime incumbent John Carter, R-Round Rock.
The 27-year-old Democrat said he holds the answer that Killeen residents may be looking for as an alternative to Congressman Carter.
âIâm running because I believe I can truly represent the residents of Killeen,â Hildner said in an interview Wednesday.
Hildner is an outspoken member of the community who helped to organize multiple protests through his organization, Letâs Move Killeen, on a number of subjects, including no-knock warrants and the George Floyd killing.

An additional free COVID-19 testing site will be available today in Killeen.Â
The site will be open from noon to 7 p.m. at Destiny Church, 101 N. W.S. Young Drive, in Killeen.
The site is open to the public, and residents will receive their results within 48 to 72 hours, according to a news release.
Former NFL player Tommie Harris Jr. is teaming up with MCI Diagnostics Center, the city of Killeen and Let s Move Killeen to provide the site.Â
Killeen residents can also get a COVID-19 test at the Special Events Center, 3301 S. W.S. Young Drive, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
