37 more Covid-19 cases recorded at Akosombo International School

+ Thirty-seven more Covid-19 cases have been recorded at the Akosombo International School, the Executive Director of National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) has disclosed. Dr Hilda Ampadu told Emefa Apawu on The Probe on Sunday that, “It is encouraging to say that the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Regional Health Directorate and the Municipal Health Directorate in there are on top of issues.” She added, “They are working very well with the school’s Covid Management Team and all those who have tested positive are been taken care of by GHS.” On February 4, the Eastern Regional Director of GHS Dr Winfred Ofosu disclosed that 40 students at the School had tested positive.

3 persons in police custody at Walawale test positive for COVID-19

+ Three persons in police custody in Walewale in the North East Region have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The three were in a group of 10 who were being prepared for transfer to the Tamale prisons when a pre-departure COVID-19 test was conducted on them and the result confirmed the three as positive cases. They have since been quarantined in new police cells. The North East Regional Police Crime Officer, Superintendent Reuben Dugah who confirmed this to Graphic Online said the inmates were responding to treatment at the isolation center. The West Mamprusi Municipal COVID 19 team has since commenced contact tracing of persons and officers who have had contacts with the said inmates for their samples to be taken for testing.

The National Schools Inspectorate Authority Engages Schools To Ensure A Safe Healthy Re-Opening

  Officials of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) on Friday, 8th January, 2021, met with Public and Private Schools to discuss the modalities for the re-opening of schools for the new academic year. The virtual engagement is one of the many ways the Authority has adopted to guide and support school owners on how to successfully and safely open their schools in the midst of the spread of COVID-19. Speaking at the virtual engagement, the Executive Director/Inspector-General of Schools of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), Dr. Hilda Ampadu, stated, “NaSIA is committed to health and safety during the start of the new academic year in the midst of the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases. We want to ensure that schools are equipped with the right information amidst preparations for a safe physical re-opening in order to reduce the risk of infections on school campuses.”
