(File photo| PTI) By Express News Service BHUBANESWAR: A day after the nation-wide rollout of Covid-19 vaccines, Odisha government on Sunday decided to scale up the vaccination program across the State in order to complete the drive by January 25. The drive would be conducted across 380 session sites in the State with a target of inoculating 31,902 health care workers from Monday. The program was launched at 161 session sites on Saturday. Of the listed 16,405 HCWs, 13,980 were vaccinated on day one.

In pursuance of the revised guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs for surveillance and containment of COVID-19, the Odisha Government has issued the following guidelines which shall be in force in the State from January 1 to 31, 2021. Lockdown in Containment Zones   ·         Local Authorities i.e., District Collector/ Municipal Commissioner shall carefully demarcate the containment zones in accordance with the guidelines of MoHFW, Government of India/ H&FW Department, Government of Odisha. New COVID-19 strain: Odisha to keep surveillance on UK returnees

ANI | Updated: Dec 25, 2020 07:58 IST Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], December 25 (ANI): In view of the threat posed by the spread of a new variant of the coronavirus, the Odisha government on Thursday asked district administrations in the state to keep active surveillance on who returned from United Kingdom (UK) in the last 14 days (from December 7) for COVID containment. As per an official release, Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra has written to MD, NHM (National Health Mission), Odisha, all Collector and district magistrates (DMs), Municipal Commissioners, and all CDM and PHOs. Sharing the details of the persons returned from the United Kingdom during the last 14 days provided by Delhi Disaster Management Authority, Mohapatra said in his letter, A mutated strain of SARS-CoV-2 has been reported from the United Kingdom. The strain has been implicated to have higher transmissibility as compared to the earlier strains.
