Phase two of the Ingalls improvement project kicks off

The City of Pascagoula posted on their Facebook page a traffic alert warning drivers that starting today lanes on the north side of Ingalls Avenue will be closed.
A section of Ingalls Avenue from Market Street to Pascagoula Street will be reduced to two lanes for the next two weeks.
Traffic will be diverted to the south side of Ingalls Avenue so that construction can commence. The construction is part of the Ingalls Avenue improvement project.
Ingalls Avenue between Pascagoula Street and Desoto Street is now open.
Moving into the second phase of the project, the city is expecting completion of construction by December 2021. Pascagoula City Manager Michael Silverman said, “We’ve been fortunate enough to move to phase two on the project and right now we’re working on the street deconstruction component that means addressing the utilities underneath the street along with tearing up the concrete base and the

Last night, the Pascagoula City Council voted unanimously to allocate American Rescue Plan Act funds to address aging infrastructure in the city.
The first installment of funds, which totals nearly $2.6 million, will be used to replace and relocate failing water distribution infrastructure in the 8
th and 13
th Street area as well as the South Fernwood and Redwood Streets area.
Some of the upgrades include moving water lines outside of asphalt, improving meter and valve access and hydrant location, in addition to maintenance issues.
Currently, these locations require regular maintenance and are a common source of water outages and boil water notices in the city. PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - Pascagoula just got a new mayor, and soon the Flagship City will also get a new city manager.
Thursday, City Manager Michael Silverman submitted his resignation after just 17 months on the job. He said the announcement comes with “deep regret”, but he’s taking a job closer to his family in Nags Head, North Carolina. Just last night, the Nags Head Board of Commissioners appointed Silverman as the new town manager.
