Gorham Justice John Peck to be admonished for Facebook posts

GORHAM, NY   In a decision released last month by New York s Commission on Judicial Conduct, Gorham Town Justice John R. Peck is to be admonished for public Facebook posts in which he appeared dressed in a police uniform and expressed an appreciation for law enforcement officers.  According to the determination initially made by the commission March 19, Peck, a former deputy, K9 handler and school resource officer, attended the July 19  Back the Blue event in Ontario County holding a sign with the words Thank You written on it. On July 21, Peck made a public post regarding his appearance at the event that featured a photo of him wearing an Ontario County sheriff s uniform.

Video shows the detainees throwing objects out of shattered windows and holding signs demanding justice. For the second time in a span of months, inmates at a St. Louis jail rioted Sunday night protesting delayed court hearings and inhumane conditions. Nearly 60 inmates broke out of their cells and began breaking windows, setting fires and throwing objects onto the streets below, according to reports. Inmates held at the City Justice Center downtown went to the third floor around 8:30 p.m. and reportedly covered cameras then proceeded to smash windows, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said in a bulletin, KSDK reported. The jail is located across the street from St. Louis City Hall.

Videos from the scene show detainees breaking windows, throwing items out of the windows, and setting items on fire on the third floor of the building. The streets around the Justice Center are closed. When News 4 crews got to the scene, nearly a dozen inmates were seen yelling out of the third floor windows. Some inmates were demanding hearing dates in their ongoing criminal proceedings. Court proceedings have been delayed in the city due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The disturbance broke out Sunday night at about 9 o clock at the City Justice Center, CBS St. Louis affiliate KMOV-TV reported. Inmates were seen tossing objects out of broken windows and setting a fire. Firefighters used a hose to douse the flames. The objects included chairs and TVs, KMOV reporter Alexis Zotos tweeted.
