The Killeen City Council voted Tuesday to bring back for discussion the allocation of $4 million for short-term street repairs.
Half of the money would come from Capital Improvement Project funding; the other half from the street maintenance fund.
The vote was 6 to 1, with Councilwoman Shirley Fleming voting against, saying she didnât believe the funding would be sufficient.
Following a motion by Councilwoman Debbie Nash-King to bring back for discussion moving $2 million of Capital Improvement Funds for winter storm-related street repair, the audio connection with remote participants was lost for the second time at Tuesdayâs council workshop.
Councilmembers Terry Clark and Fleming were taking part in the workshop by remote teleconference.

On Feb. 8, Milford City Council heard a presentation by Tom Coyle of Efficiency Smart, the company that provides energy savings options to businesses and residents in Milford. Coyle provided council with details on how much customers had saved in the city as well as goals that had been met since the city agreed to join the project three years ago.
“Over the past three years, we have achieved 107 percent of our goal in energy savings for the city,” Coyle said. “This has led to a lifetime customer savings of over $2.8 million. Over the past three years, we have provided over 4,000 large business solutions and almost 900 small business solutions as well as over 3,400 residential solutions to help save energy. When we first launched, Milford was one of the first members of DEMEC to sign on. Now, all eight members have joined, and we have dedicated staff, including an account manager as well as an energy consultant.”
VOTE FOR ME
I believe I have been doing a good job for District 1 City Council and the citizens of Jasper because I recognize many opportunities for improvements in our community and a willingness to help make those improvements. I am dedicated, confident and have proven leadership skills instilled from my time in the US Navy and honed during my career in management.
As an elected policymaker, I will work hard with my colleagues to identify the needs of our citizens and to help formulate solutions that will address those needs. I will support our City Officials and work with them to help implement goals for Jasper.
