CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas A man has been arrested for a murder that happened on Jan. 28 on Mestina St, near the Nueces County Courthouse, Corpus Christi police announced Tuesday.
Robert Moore, 41, was picked up by the Corpus Christi Gang Unit and the US Marshal Violent Fugitive Task Force on Saturday, Jan. 30 after detectives determined he was involved in the homicide.
On Janp 28, Police got a call around 11:34 p.m. for reports of a man on the ground on the 1000 block of Mestina. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the back. He was taken to the hospital where he died, police said.
Fulton County’s new sheriff has announced he wants to buy Atlanta’s mostly empty jail and begin housing more inmates there.
It’s a proposal that would upend promises by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and a notable departure from the momentum that’s been building for years to close Atlanta’s City Detention Center.
“This is an opportunity for the city to get out of the jail business and the sheriff’s office to do what we do,” Sheriff Patrick Labat, who ran Atlanta’s jail for the last ten years, told WABE.
He was a member of a task force Mayor Bottoms asked to come up with recommendations on the future of the jail.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas One teen has been arrested and police are looking for two other suspects after an armed robbery at a store on the 3000 block of McKinzie Rd. overnight.
Officers were called to the area at 1:44 a.m. Tuesday and were told by employees that two men, dressed in all black and with gloves on, displayed knives and demanded money from the register.
The men got away with an unknown amount of cash and other items from the store, officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department said.

Corpus Christi police said Stephanie Ysassi is in Nueces County Jail under bonds totaling $1 million.
Police said she has been jailed in connection with an incident that took place approximately 5:30 a.m. after police were dispatched for a man down in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found a deceased 40-year-old male slumped over the driverâs seat of a vehicle. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began to investigate this unattended death.
