Williams Lake Council Seeking A Meeting With The Province For Additional Doctors

Williams Lake Council Seeking A Meeting With The Province For Additional Doctors SHARE ON: Photo-Pixabay City of Williams Lake Council has requested a meeting with the Minister of Health during the Union of British Columbia Municipalities AGM and Convention in Early September. They asked for the meeting to bring attention to the critical shortage of health care professionals in the community. Mayor Walt Cobb said it’s been ongoing for years getting new Drs, Locums, some that come for a couple of years and then they’re gone. “And that seems to be the scenario we’re in right now is that once the two-years are up that they have to spend in a rural community or whatever their rationale is for coming here and then they go, it’s a cycle and there are not enough Doctors. We’ve got to have Doctors, we’ve got to have physicians and we’ve got to find out a way that’s going to work for everybody.”

Williams Lake Council seeks public input on sentencing and monitoring of prolific offenders

CFNR Network Feb 19, 2021 11:45 AM The City of Williams Lake Council is hoping to see stronger sentencing and monitoring of prolific offenders and repeat offenders. Currently, Council is seeking the public’s input on custody and electronic monitoring, as well as Council’s pursuit of an inquiry into the judicial and sentencing system. A survey has been set up by Council. Using electronic monitoring would still provide offenders with a reasonably limited freedom. The use of this technology does not compromise the safety of the public to the degree that releasing repeat offenders does. At Council’s request, the possibility of a public inquiry to determine why so many prolific offenders with serious charges are released is now being pursued by the MLA and MP. The survey can be found here.
