MOUNDS, Ill. (KFVS) - A deadline for the City of Mounds had residents wondering if their water was going to be shut off.
Due to an outstanding bill, the city needed to reach an agreement before March 10 with Southwater, Inc., their water provider, or the city would be without water.
Mounds Mayor Rita Flummer felt some weight lifted off of her shoulders.
She said they signed the agreement with the water company March 9.
âWhen this is all done we will go forward with our regular monthly bills right now just go forward like this had never happened,â said Flummer.

Southern Illinois town may lose water By Colin Baillie | January 28, 2021 at 5:17 PM CST - Updated January 29 at 4:51 AM
MOUNDS, Ill. (KFVS) - A southern Illinois town with a population of just under 900 people may lose its tap.
A concerned water customer in Mounds, Jill Bosecker, said “it would be detrimental to this community” if the town were to lose water.
She said she is wondering how the water bill for the city got so high.
“$150,000 is a lot of money so, so in my mind, where is the $150,000,” wondered Bosecker.
SouthWater Incorporation supplies the water.
