There were four visitors to the meeting:
Nancy Tower, of Longville, made a presentation regarding Business Workforce and Recovery Solutions, a company supporting comprehensive disaster recovery. Their purpose is to collaborate with non profits and helping to unite all support group agencies, to provide direct services like training and consulting, and to identify gaps and help to fill them. They will begin taking clients August 11 and will hold an event a the Chamber of Commerce on August 31.
Kenneth and Gayle Bailey and Alex Rivera asked for assistance with a damaged home on Magnolia Street.
Matthew Bellaire advised the Council of a house on Mimosa Street in need of attention.
Mayor Misty Clanton was absent.Â
Jessie Cunningham addressed the council regarding an issue on Oak Park Street. Code Enforcement Officer Adam Williams is working to address the issue.
Corporal Jay Purdue was awarded DeRidder Police Officer of the Year.
Ordinances were introduced:Â
patching, milling and overlaying portions of 8th Street, South Texas Street, and Fisher Road; and
for approving basic engineering by Meyer and Associates for drainage improvements in Kilman Pines Subdivision.
All have public hearing dates on May 24 2021.
Three emergency ordinances were passed for construction and repairs to the Real Art DeRidder Building, the Dance Stop Building, and the Beauregard Museum.
A resolution was approved adopting the 2020 Water Pollution and Prevention Audit report.
Public hearings were scheduled for the March 22 meeting regarding entering into a Cooperative Agreement with DeRidder Baseball and Softball Inc. for use of West Park, and for the placement of a memorial marker on Rock Street memorializing Johnnie Robinson Jr.
Director of Utilities Roy Keen shared the the 8the street construction should be done by the end of the month. The meeting adjourned.
