Question of the Day By NOAH ZUCKER and Delaware State News - Associated Press - Saturday, April 3, 2021
MILFORD, Del. (AP) - A small business in downtown Milford was featured twice last week on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Cookie’s Paper Petals sells handcrafted decorative paper flowers, kits for people to make their own at home and virtual lessons for those looking to master the craft. Anastasia Jackson, the owner, notes that her shop is the first of its kind on the East Coast.
The show aired March 22 as part of the program’s “Open for Business” segment. The three-minute clip told the story of how Ms. Jackson was inspired in part by her recently deceased grandmother, who nicknamed her Cookie, to open the shop amid the pandemic.
Mike Perfetti and Delaware Branding Co. in Milford have canceled plans for a Haunted St. Patrick’s Day stroll in the alley next to his Milford tattoo store.
In a post on the Delaware Branding Co. Facebook page, Perfetti said the event had been used to pit his business against Downtown Milford Inc., where his wife, Cat Perfetti, is the acting executive director.
DMI usually hosts the St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl in Milford. When it was canceled because of COVID-19 restrictions, Perfetti was spurred to create the idea of the haunted alley.
“DMI has canceled its events, more specifically the Pub Crawl, due to restrictions that we at DBC don’t have,” Perfetti wrote on the company webpage. “What we had planned was basically trick or treating.”

“We’ve been working on an MOU which is a formal agreement between Parks and Recreation and the Delaware Nature Society,” Brad Dennehy, Parks and Recreation Director said. “We believe they are a good provider of programming especially anything around water. Milford has invested a lot of money in building infrastructure of the Riverwalk and I think it behooves us to use this part of the town. This allows them to put on some really good programming, everything from kayak tours to bird watching. We don’t have a playbook yet of what will be put on, but his document ju
