I had a brief but amazing time being part of the Downtown Devil team over this past year. I moved to Phoenix from across the country last summer not knowing anyone after deciding to pursue my master’s at Arizona State. DD helped me feel more connected with my community. Through each story and social media interaction, I learned more about my own neighborhood by doing what I love, and it made my experience living here so meaningful.
Working alongside great journalists made the experience even better. I’m thankful for the support, friendship, encouragement, and the way this team would always share and hype up each other’s work.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey may have ended the state mandate on wearing masks, but the face coverings will stay up in schools, according to Arizona educators.
Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services, announced that in Fall 2021, school districts and charter schools are required to mandate that masks are worn on campus, on school buses, and during school-associated activities by all faculty, staff, students, contractors and visitors.
Downtown Phoenix Inc. creates voucher program to bring business back to downtown

The Downtown Phoenix Partnership has unveiled a new program designed to draw customers downtown and back into the restaurants, coffee shop retailers and cultural institutions to help recover from the losses suffered during the pandemic that make up the heart of downtown.
DTPHX Dollars is a $5 same-as-cash voucher that can be redeemed at many downtown businesses on purchases over $5. Businesses can turn in the vouchers to Downtown Phoenix Inc. and will be reimbursed within five business days.
Over 50 downtown businesses are participating in the voucher program. A full list of businesses participating can be found here.
