There were hundreds of instances of car crime in the Bradford district over the past six months BRADFORD’S worst areas for car crime over the last six months have been revealed through a new crime map. The map, put together by Co-op Insurance, uses data from the Home Office to map out every incident of car crime in the district in the past six months. The data reveals more than 1,300 incidents of car crime occurred in the district over the period, more than 200 a month – more than seven crimes a day. The Eccleshill and Ravenscliffe estate area comes out on top as the biggest hotspot for car crime, with 55 offences reported in the past six months.
Bicycling, as well as walking/hiking for pleasure, has boomed during the 14 months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The combination of fresh air, easy access to biking options and that many families already had bikes, even if infrequently used, has led to a huge increase in cycling by Americans and certainly San Joaquin County residents. Another big plus is that cyclists gain a fair amount of exercise in addition to the scenic pay-back.
The county is blessed by relatively safe, quiet places to pedal, graced by a year-round cycling climate, and flat to rolling terrain. If you have some experience and want to increase your mileage from 5 to 10 miles and more, the San Joaquin Bike Coalition and the Stockton Bike Club offer group rides, including many that pedal into wine country and the Sierra foothills. With National Bike Month coming in May, here are suggestions from local cyclists as to where, when and how to enjoy the sights outside your back door, from the seat of your bike.

People in Bradford have been naming their favourite hairdressers
BRADFORD residents have been sharing their favourite hairdressers across the district, after salons opened last week after three months. At the weekend, we shared a list of ten of the best salons across Bradford according to Google Reviews, with several 5-star rated premises making the list. Following the publication of the list, people shared their favourite hairdressers and barbers and why they are the best. Many people couldn’t wait to get back to see their hairdresser last week after hair salons reopened on April 12, along with non-essential retail, pubs, restaurants and gyms, following the latest easing of the third national lockdown which has been in place since January 4.
