WATERBURY – Robert “Bob” W. Dews, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at his home in Waterbury.
Born on Sept. 24, 1949, in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Melvin E. and Erminia (Cimaglia) Dews of Thomaston. He attended Thomaston High School and graduated from Purdue University. Bob had a long career in human resource management. Pursuing his love of golf, upon semi-retirement, worked at Southington Country Club.
For the last 36 years, without ever missing a beat, he and his golf buddies, Pete Allvin, Bill Wisk Sr. and Bill Wisk Jr.and others who joined in each year annually traveled to Myrtle Beach for a week of golf. Bob was also a member of several golf leagues over the years including Sam the Clam’s and Apple Valley. He was past president of the Southington Country Club Men’s Association.

FRIENDSHIP Emma E. Simmons, 84, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2021 at her home in Friendship. She was born September 7, 1936 in Thomaston, Maine, the daughter of Esther (Swanson) and Walter Matson.
Emma attended Thomaston High School – “The Sea Breeze” and graduated in the Class of 1954. Her first job as a teenager was at Wallace’s Market, in Friendship. She was a 33-year employee at Sylvania, in Waldoboro.
Emma was a very independent and a hard worker her whole life; these traits she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was fortunate in her later years to finally enjoy her special interest in traveling. She traveled to many places across the United States with her late husband Donald Simmons.
