Over the Garden Fence: Perennials are on the way
Mary Lee Minor
Our garden club members are dividing and potting many perennials in an effort to thin garden abundance. The faithful public will be offered a chance to enrich their own flower beds May 8 when the Earth, Wind and Flowers Garden Club will offer hundreds of plants.
The assembling efforts include bags, boxes and pots of many types of perennial plants. But our hours are short 9 a.m.-noon.
There will be masks in place. Plants like trees, shrubs and berry canes will be displayed outside. It is likely both ends of the Fine Arts Building will be open.

Over the Garden Fence: Grateful for country roads
Mary Lee Minor
April is Ohio Native Plant Month. The first Ohio Native Plant Month was a year ago, but we know how that got clobbered. Actually, hundreds of plantings were completed during 2020 in an effort to support pollinators.
Our Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Inc. and its affiliated clubs had no problem supporting this observance. Although we may not be crop producers we realize that, without pollinating wildlife, our state s agricultural production would be greatly reduced.
A year ago, committed to this monthlong focus, our garden club was taking its turn hosting a regional garden club meeting. We looked to Pickwick Place to gather. Our theme became Grateful for Country Roads.
