Slumber Party Massacre Reboot Art Reveals the Driller Killer
SYFY has released an official image from the upcoming reboot of
Slumber Party Massacre and it already gives a first look at the Driller Killer at the heart of the movie s horror. The original film centered on a slumber party that got crashed by an escaped serial killer wielding a huge drill. The movie got mixed reviews, but made enough money to become a cult classic and earn a pair of sequels
Slumber Party Massacre II and
Slumber Party Massacre III, which came out in 1987 and 1990, respectively. The Massacre brand also spawned
Clapboard Jungle: the heads of indie filmmaking.
This week’s offerings include a trio of documentaries that range in subject from the history of everyone’s favorite curse word, Miami’s cocaine cartel, and for openers, a cautionary fable for the marginally talented among us who think they have what it takes to make it in Hollywood.

As if the poster’s graphics artist’s renderings of indie monarchs George Romero, Dick Miller, Sid Haig, Larry Cohen, Tom Savini, and more weren’t inducement enough, the accompanying paragraph spoke of a “currently over-crowded marketplace” and how this documentary would “serve as a survival guide for the modern independent filmmaker.” Nowhere does it mention, “Vanity production by Justin McConnell who appears to have spent fifteen years in a sub semi-pro capacity trying to emulate schlock that came before him.” McConnell’s IMDB profile boasts almost as many entries as Scorsese. I can say honestly that the on-set experience for that show was such a scrappy low-budget adventure.
It definitely felt like what I imagined Romero felt like on the ’70s movies. It was a lot of really thinking on our feet and seeing how we can stretch our budget as much as possible.”
He adds: “
It’s a very low-budget affair but we pushed hard to have as many crazy gags and stuff as possible. I can’t explicitly give any details on plot or anything like that. It’s not my place to divulge those secrets just yet, but I can say that I had a blast shooting and I had a great time working with the showrunners. I feel like we’ve made something that captures the spirit of the era of Romero’s movies.“
