Speaking at a BT Young Scientist event, Minister Simon Harris highlighted the work ahead for his new department in ensuring diversity and inclusion in STEM.
Speaking at an event hosted as part of the 2021 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE), Minister Simon Harris, TD, commended the organisers for finding a way to bring the event to fruition amid challenging times. “I can think of no more important year ever in our history as a country to be having a Young Scientist exhibition,” said the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.

The 57
th BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition kicks off today as over 1,000 students from over 200 schools across the island of Ireland are taking part in the first ever virtual BTYSTE.
At 1pm today, President Michael D. Higgins will give the Opening Address at the official opening ceremony of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2021, which can be viewed for free on the BTYSTE portal and on Facebook Live. Free registration is open at https://portal.

Free registration has opened for the virtual BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition taking place in January 2021.
The 2021 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) will be like no other in its long history as the event has gone fully virtual amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s main exhibition will showcase 550 student projects selected from more than 1,300 entries. Students from all over Ireland will be represented with projects exploring such varied topics as Covid-19, social media, ethnicity, gender studies, domestic abuse, sexual assault, sports science and socio-economic challenges.
