An accident occurred with an AW169 helicopter, the root cause of which is still under investigation. While the helicopter was on a take-off phase at low forward speed, a loss of yaw control has been observed. 40 years in the making, with the federal government first beginning work on this project in 1968, the Safer Occupancy Furniture Flammability Act (SOFFA) will finally go into effect June 25, 2021.
Signed into law in December 2020, this law, sometimes known as the Safer Occupancy Furniture Flammability Act (SOFFA), nationalizes the 2013 version of California’s Technical Bulletin 117. I am utterly dismayed that such a large and aesthetically incongruous building is being put forward. Once again, the university aggressively pushes for inappropriate development, turning a deaf ear to the local community and businesses, and again ignores the community’s coastal height limitation. Moreover, this is an extremely trafficked and congested area; a building such as this is the very last thing the local residential and business communities need or want.
Put succinctly, wrong building, wrong place, wrong priorities. For once, consider the local community and environs. Please respect our coastal height limitations. At the very least, find a site more suitable for such an edifice one in the interior of the campus, as opposed to on the perimeter of or outside the university’s boundaries.

In a Technical Bulletin issued to customers in December, Maritec reports several cases where tested VLSFO manifold samples have recorded a sulphur content of between 0.51 to 0.53%m/m, exceeding the mandatory allowable 0.50%m/m.

Bloomberg, Boeing released a safety bulletin advising all pilots to the necessary measures they need to take to ensure control of their aircraft following last month’s fatal crash. Boeing issued the bulletin on February 15, 2021, and sent it to customers all over the world. It aims to “reinforce active flight crew monitoring of airplane state and flight path management to prevent airplane upset.”
The SJ flight No. SJ182 dove unexpectedly shortly after take-off on January 9, killing all 62 aboard. The bulletin does not clearly discuss the SJ fatal crash. However, it is a high-level warning for pilots to watch their aircraft for the kind of difficulties that occurred prior to the accident and how to recover from those situations.
