ELIZABETH, NJ - A fatal shooting that took place in Elizabeth on Monday is under active investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca and Police Director Earl Graves jointly announced Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Antwoine Thompson.
Members of the Elizabeth Police Department responding to the intersection of Second and Bond streets in the city’s Elizabethport section early Monday afternoon found Thompson at that location, having sustained serious injury, according to the preliminary investigation. Thompson was rushed to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m.

PLAINFIELD - After being arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, a city man has been returned to New Jersey to face charges he murdered a city man on Christmas Eve.
Oscar E. Rodriguez, 24, is charged with first-degree murder and second-degree desecration of human remains in connection with the death of David Chacon, 42, on West Front Street, said acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo.
Shortly after 10 a.m. Christmas Eve, Plainfield police responded to a call reporting charred human remains found in an outdoor area near the 800 block of West Front Street, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Peter Benza, who is prosecuting the case.

An investigation led by the Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and Plainfield Police Department resulted in the identification of the victim using DNA evidence, and also resulted in Rodriguez being developed as a suspect.

UNION COUNTY, NJ They were our mothers, wrote a relative about the two women found dead in a New Jersey restaurant Tuesday.
One had 11 children; the other had four, family members said.
Now family members of the two women found dead in a Hillside restaurant on Tuesday are asking for donations, saying that the deaths of the two sisters have left 14 children motherless.
