Maharashtra requires 50,000 Remdesivir injections per day, but its supply is 26,000 injections from the Centre, said Senior Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik on Thursday.
Malik, who is the spokesperson for the NCP party and Cabinet Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said in a media statement that the Covid pandemic situation in Maharashtra is serious and scary, therefore keeping these conditions in mind the Central Government must enhance the supply to 50,000 injections per day.
Malik was reacting to the data released by the Union Government on Wednesday about the status of injections supply.

A key feature of the strategy is that the vaccine manufacturers would supply 50 per cent of their monthly Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) released doses to Government of India and would be free to supply remaining 50 per cent doses to state governments and in the other than Government of India channel, the ministry said.

According to the Liberalised Pricing and Accelerated National COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, COVID-19 vaccination will continue to be free for eligible population groups comprising healthcare workers, frontline workers and population above 45 years of age in government COVID vaccination centres which receive doses from Government of India.

New Delhi, April 21 : Union Government on Wednesday said that there are more than 21.57 lakh active Covid cases in the country, which is double the maximum number of active cases India had last year.
Addressing a press conference, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, Government of India and States/Union Territories are trying their best to come out of the pandemic. There are 21.57 lakh active cases, which is 13.82 per cent of total cases. Over 85 per cent people (1.32 crore) have been cured. More than 13 crore people have been vaccinated in the country which also include 30 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours.
