Photo: Chai Fonacier/IG Filipina actress Chai Fonacier is set to star in the upcoming thriller Nocebo alongside Hollywood actors Eva Green and Mark Strong. According to a Variety report on Thursday, Chai will play the role of a Filipino carer who uses traditional folk healing in helping Eva s character know more about her mysterious illness. The title Nocebo is based on the Nocebo Effect, the antonym of placebo wherein the patient s negative thinking results in a more negative outcome. The new film, set to be produced both in the Philippines and in Ireland, will be directed by Vivarium director Lorcan Finnegan, written by Garret Shanley, and produced by Emily Leo, Brunella Cocchiglia, and Filipino producers Bianca Balbuena an Bradley Liew. It s also being developed by Screen Ireland, XYZ Films, Media Finance Capital, and The Film Development Council of the Philippines.

The story centers around the Taipei Metro, a network of 131 stations, and the series features a different station in each episode. The adventure is kicked off when Yi-Zhi (Chris Wang) loses his engagement ring on the train prior to his proposal to girlfriend Lisa (Allison Lin). From there, the ring finds its way into the hands of other couples as both Yi-Zhi and Lisa re-examine their future and the meaning of love in their lives.
