A Wilmington man was sentenced Wednesday to more than eight years in prison for the 2019 robbery of a Burgaw convenience store.
Shaun Cedric Robinson, 22, and another man robbed the Scotchman gas station and convenience store in Burgaw on June 4, 2019, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of North Carolina.
The announcement was made Wednesday after Robinson was sentenced to 100 months in prison for affecting interstate commerce and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence by Chief U.S. District Judge Richard E. Myers II.
Once inside the Scotchman store, Robinson held the clerk at gunpoint while demanding money. The clerk opened the cash register and Robinson s co-defendant took out the money. He had driven Robinson to the store to carry out the robbery and was going to be the get away driver, according to the release.
