Bellingham Labour tweeted: “We are very sad to say that Cllr Sue Hordijenko has died. “Sue was a Bellingham resident who worked hard for local residents with an approachable manner, she was a real grafter and she was an active member of our community – we will miss her terribly.” Cllr Octavia Holland said: “Such dreadful news. Sue will be remembered for her smile and friendliness – she was always warm. Thoughts with her loved ones.”

The details emerged at a meeting of mayor and cabinet on February 3, during which the budget for next year was approved, along with £40 million worth of cuts over the next three years. The plans include a £250,000 cut to the council’s contribution to children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). The cut was approved, though the council said it will ringfence the money in case there is surge in need.
