LEWISTON, Idaho In what’s beginning to seem like a badly scripted Hollywood movie, more problems emerged Tuesday in the effort to replace former Lewiston state Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger.
Party officials now say the list of three finalists whose names were submitted to the governor last week may have been incorrect, because of errors and confusion in the way ballots were tabulated.
I do not presume to know when human life begins. What I am fairly sure however, is that â behind all the fire and brimstone of the âpro-lifeâ crowd, there is a fundamental determining belief that shapes their fanaticism about abortion and what others decide about their own bodies. More Headlines
SPR s Doug Nadvornick reports.
An Idaho state representative has resigned from the state House. Aaron von Ehlinger, a Republican from Lewiston, leaves office on the same day that a legislative ethics committee recommended that he be expelled. On Wednesday, members of the Idaho House Ethics Committee heard testimony detailing Representative Aaron von Ehlinger’s encounter with the 19-year-old woman who accused him of raping her. Von Ehlinger admitted he took the woman to dinner and to his apartment, but he wouldn’t comment on any sexual activity that occurred. That was cited by Ethics Committee chairman Rep. Sage Dixon [R-Ponderay] in his response Thursday morning.
Idaho Rep. Von Ehlinger accused of unwanted sexual contact
BOISE, Idaho (AP) An Idaho legislative ethics committee is investigating reports that Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger had what he called “unconsented sexual contact” with an adult volunteer, a newspaper reported.
Von Ehlinger, a Republican from Lewiston, denied the allegation, The Lewiston Tribune reported Friday. He did not describe the complaint’s allegations, and it wasn’t clear where the alleged sexual contact took place.
“This episode is an embarrassment to me, but I assure my constituents in Nez Perce and Lewis counties that I have not broken any laws or legislative rules, nor have I violated the concepts of appropriate social conduct,” he told the newspaper in a prepared statement.

BOISE (AP) A legislative ethics committee is investigating a rape complaint against an Idaho state lawmaker.
Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger, a freshman Republican from Lewiston, denied the allegation. His attorney has called for the ethics investigation to be dismissed, saying the encounter was consensual.
In the complaint filed by House Republican leaders on March 17 and released Friday, the accuser told Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Kim Blackburn that she was assaulted after von Ehlinger took her out to dinner and then back to his apartment on the pretext that he’d forgotten something. She said it happened despite the fact that she said “no” and froze.
