LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A lot of thankful parents are putting presents under their Christmas trees thanks to your donations.
The moms and dads picked up those gifts Wednesday at The Salvation Army of La Crosse County’s ‘Angel Giving Tree’ distribution.
Volunteers purchased gifts for more than More than 1,100 local kids.
In addition to those presents, each child will also receive a new outfit.
While there is a need every year, it was even greater this season.
“Some are unemployed, some are underemployed. And so this just helps Christmas not be a downer. Hopefully we’ll end 2020 with a big smile on everybody’s face,” said Salvation Army of La Crosse County Major Jeff Richardson.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The holidays are a time of giving.
That was the case Thursday in La Crosse when the Salvation Army got a grant to support the Angel Giving Tree effort.
About $4,000 is helping the effort thanks to a donation by Walmart, which was matched by Pepsi of La Crosse.
The donations will help the program to buy gifts for older kids.
Follow the donations, volunteers went shopping.
They say that in a year that has been so unusual, the donation is really helping families.
“We are really seeing the community come together, and we are finding that there is hope, and that is what is being provided to our families that are in need. And so many are struggling, but as we’re reaching out, we’re able to give that hope. And so there is going to be a lot of good Christmases,” said Salvation Army of La Crosse County development director Christina Knudsen.
