Everything You Absolutely Must Do in Houston This Weekend

Everything You Must Do in Houston This Weekend Thrillist 5 days ago © Courtesy of Pat Green Last Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia, mass shootings occurred at two separate massage parlors, leaving eight women dead, many of them of Asian descent. This hate crime is the most recent in a series of violent anti-Asian crimes that have occurred across America. And we know you’re here for fun weekend events, but it’s important to recognize how these hate-fueled crimes, which follow over a year of xenophobic, anti-Asian rhetoric around the coronavirus, are impacting our neighbors and communities. This weekend, whether you choose to stay in or go out (with a mask on), we encourage you to show up for your local Asian communities, whether that means donating to an organization that is providing direct support, patroning small, Asian-owned businesses, or simply calling a friend to remind them that you’re in their corner.
