CWC meeting: Top Congress leader to finalise schedule for party president s election

New Delhi, Jan 22: Top Congress leaders has convened a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) today. The party leaders are likely to discuss the farmers issues and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The leaders will also deliberate on the way forward to elect the new party chief.
It can be seen that the CWC is the highest decision making body of the grand old party. The CWC meeting will be chaired by party chief Sonia Gandhi, who has asked the leadership to hold organisational polls including for the party president s post.
Elected ward members will be administered oath of office on the same day
The State Election Commission has notified the schedule for the administration of oath of office to the newly-elected ward members of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as also the special meeting for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Both the oath-taking and election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor are scheduled to be held on February 11.
In the notification issued on Friday, State Election Commissioner C. Parthasarathi has also directed the Election Authority and Commissioner of GHMC to authorise one of the district collectors having jurisdiction over any area comprised in GHMC to conduct the election to the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, in accordance with Rule 3 of Telangana Municipal Corporations Rules, 2005.

HYDERABAD: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Friday decided to conduct the much-awaited Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at 12.30 pm on February 11. Prior to the elections, the elected ward members will take oath at 11 am on the same day.
The GHMC Council has 149 corporators, a BJP elected member having succumbed to Covid-19 last month.

JAMMU, Jan 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Government today formally issued Reservation Rules for the posts of Chairpersons of the District Development Councils (DDCs) according 33 percent reservation to women while Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) will get reservation based on their population.
For reservation to women, the districts will be arranged alphabetically and every third district will be reserved for them, the Reservation Rules issued today by Secretary Rural Development Department Sheetal Nanda said.
Allocation of seats of the Chairpersons to be reserved for women shall be made on a three point roster system after arranging them alphabetically, Nanda said.

VIJAYAWADA: A day after announcing the schedule for elections to Gram Panchayats in the State, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar said that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was applicable only to rural areas, not urban regions. He said the MCC would be in force from January 9 to February 17.
