HANOVER An independent doctor hired by the town to review a state health study said the available data and information does not show an unusually high rate of brain cancer among residents who live near the former National Fireworks Co. site in Hanover.
Dr. Julie Goodman went before the board of selectmen virtually on Monday night to explain the findings of a review done by the state Department of Public Health regarding brain and other nervous system cancers among residents who live within 2 miles of the property, where a fireworks manufacturer and other companies dumped toxic chemicals for decades.
Goodman, an expert in toxicology and epidemiology, did not work on the study, but was hired by the town to review it and explain its findings.
