Grant Williams Receives Bill Russell Mentoring Legacy Award
Celtics player second recipient of the award, recognizing dedication to mentoring youth in Massachusetts

BOSTON, January 29, 2021 /CSRwire/ – MENTOR National, an organization dedicated to unifying mentoring across the nation, today announced the second recipient of The Bill Russell Mentoring Legacy Award, Grant Williams of the Boston Celtics. Through this award, MENTOR recognizes and honors Williams’ efforts to provide and support mentoring services to youth in Massachusetts, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Basketball Association (NBA) and MENTOR have held a longstanding relationship since 2014 and have since connected thousands of mentors and mentees across the nation.

For some youth services agencies, January is an important month because of its billing as National Mentoring Month.
Janice Justice, the executive director of Comprehensive Juvenile Services, Inc., also likes it because it sheds more light on her organization’s new mentoring program: Operation Positive Direction.
Comprehensive Juvenile Services holds a contract with the Division of Youth Services, which is a division of the Department of Human Services. Alan Wright is their new mentoring coordinator and marketing manager.
The purpose of the program is to provide mentors for youth who face social, economic, and academic challenges as a way of leading them on paths to future success.
