MARY KEFALOS | News, Sports, Jobs - The Times Leader

Apr 24, 2021 Mary Nikola Kefalos, 94, of St. Clairsville, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Forrest Hills Nursing Center. She was born on August 17, 1926 in Bridgeport a daughter of the late Nickolas and Vasilico (Amaxis) Kefalos. Mary was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain and retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company. She is survived by 2 brothers, George Kefalos and Antonios (Delores) Kefalos; 8 nephews; 4 nieces; 20 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cosmas Kefalos. Friends may call Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain, 314 N 5 th St., Martins Ferry. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 pm in the church with Father Michael Ziebarth officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

Doris Mae (Zink) Hester age 90 of Wheeling, WV passed away February 25, 2021 at Wheeling Hospital. She is preceded in death by sister-in-law Ruth Phillips of St. Cloud, FL; great – grandcat Leroy, Babe and other pets. She was born December 2, 1930 at home in Hannibal, OH to the late Ida (Weiss) and Fred Wilfred Zink. Growing up in Clarington, she was a graduate of Clarington High School (currently River High School), where she was involved with extracurricular activities like cheerleading and played basketball on one of the first girl teams in the state of OH. Later, she went on to attend business school at Mountain State College, (Parkersburg branch). She took great pride in all she did, loving companions to many cats, selling Avon and hosting jewelry parties, and was an attending member being a Sunday school and kindergarten teacher at Thompson United Methodist Church.

Feb 2, 2021 Clara Margaret “Peggy” Tomer, 96, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born on October 1, 1924 in Ontario, OH a daughter of the late Arnold and Josephine (Nightstep) Tennant. Peggy was the owner of Peggy Tomer’s Garage Shop, had her own radio show “Talk of the Town”, was a former buyer for the Stone & Thomas Department Store and sang for weddings, church services and with a dance band. She was also a member of the Lansing United Methodist Church, the Bridgeport Women’s Club, where she was a former President and the Bellaire Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Peggy was active in numerous clubs and a role model for women in the workplace well ahead of her time.
