Mary Nikola Kefalos, 94, of St. Clairsville, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Forrest Hills Nursing Center. She was born on August 17, 1926 in Bridgeport a daughter of the late Nickolas and Vasilico (Amaxis) Kefalos. Mary was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain and retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company.
She is survived by 2 brothers, George Kefalos and Antonios (Delores) Kefalos; 8 nephews; 4 nieces; 20 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cosmas Kefalos.
Friends may call Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain, 314 N 5 th St., Martins Ferry. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 pm in the church with Father Michael Ziebarth officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

The Ohio River received a blessing during a service Sunday afternoon held at the Steubenville Marina and officiated by from left: the Rev. Matthew Moore of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Steubenville, the Rev. Andrew Nelko of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Weirton and the Rev. Michael Ziebarth of the Orthodox Church of the Life-Giving Fountain in Martins Ferry. The three clergy also tossed crosses formed from frozen holy water into the river in observance of the Feast of Holy Theophany, an annual remembrance of the baptism of Christ on the Jordan River. MARTINS FERRY – East Ohio Regional Hospital received a blessing Wednesday by local clergy in advance of the anticipated reopening of the facility in the next couple weeks.
In addition to clergy, COO Bernie Albertini and owner Dr. John Johnson, the prayer and dedication event was attended by many of the hospital’s new employees including nurses and doctors. A few local dignitaries also attended the blessing held in the emergency room waiting area.
