Leroy Garcia and Dominick Moreno
If you travel nine miles north from the State Capitol, you’ll pass by the perpetually-busy Denver City Park, drive over the railroad tracks of the North Metro, past the Walmart Super Center, and across the Adams County line before arriving in Commerce City.
But if you instead drive 120 miles south, pass the sprawling Denver Tech Center, through the suburbs of Castle Rock, by the rugged mountains surrounding Colorado Springs, and across the vastness of El Paso County you’ll arrive in Pueblo.
Although we may have different commutes to work, the places we call home have more in common then you might think. Both Pueblo and Commerce City are diverse, support strong labor economies, and are full of hardworking people. Both communities reject strict party line ideologies and pride themselves on independent thinking.
