SEABELO MOEPI (21) was a chemistry and biochemistry major at UCT. But he couldn’t keep up with the fees and found himself excluded before he could graduate. Technically, the highest qualification he’s achieved is matric. Today he volunteers as a science tutor. He told Firdaus Khan how his life unravelled and why he believes fees should fall.
I started studying for a bachelor of science degree at UCT in 2013 and pretty soon  ran into a problem with the Service
Education and Training Authority (Seta) that was sponsoring me. They changed their policy and I ended up not receiving funding for 2014.

A Unisa student walked about 35 minutes to a shopping mall in Komani in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday to charge her cellphone so she could complete an assignment.
Another was forced to use money she had set aside for electricity to pay the printing costs for an assignment.

DURBAN - THE Secretary-General of the ANC, Ace Magashule, has instructed ANC provinces to submit names of all party members facing allegations and charges of corruption/crimes by the end of business on Thursday.
In what is set to be one of the most calamitous political upheavals in recent history, the ANC is set to face off in another round of confrontations and blows when the dreaded list of ANC members facing allegations or charges of corruption makes its way to Luthuli House.
This comes after the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) had its meeting and reaffirmed the resolutions of the 54th National Conference on fighting crime and corruption within the ruling party.

Case against 12 protesting UKZN students withdrawn

A public violence case against 12 University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) students was withdrawn at the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The 12 students were arrested on February 24, 2021, and first appeared in court the next day.
In a court document, dated April 1, 2021, which the students provided to The Mercury, the Pinetown senior prosecutor said a decision had been taken to withdraw the case following representations made on March 12 and based on the evidence in the docket of how the offence was committed.
UKZN Student Representative Council (SRC) secretary-general Philani Mncwabe said the students were unlawfully arrested for embarking on a peaceful hunger strike outside the front gate of the universityâs Westville campus.
