Phoenix, Ariz., Chooses IT Veteran Hambric as Acting CIO
Following the departure of Matthew Arvay, Phoenix, Ariz., has selected an acting CIO in Steen Hambric, who has been the city’s assistant CIO since 2017. Arvay now works in the private sector.

Shutterstock Steen Hambric is now acting CIO of Phoenix, Ariz., replacing departing CIO Matthew Arvay. The change occurred Friday, according to the city’s website.
Felicia N. Thompson, senior public information officer with the city’s Information Technology Services agency (ITS), stated that Arvay accepted an opportunity in the private sector.
Hambric was named acting CIO following an internal selection process. Thompson didn’t confirm whether a national search for a permanent replacement is in motion or will occur.

Douglas Allen Ball, 77 of St. James, NC passed away unexpectedly on March 16th, 2021 from a catastrophic stroke. Douglas Allen Ball, 1943-2021
Ball and his wife enjoyed 55 years of a beautiful, loving marriage. The couple were natives of Montana and left Montana when Ball joined the U.S. Army after graduating with ROTC from the University of Montana. SC&RA has funded the initial endowment of the Doug Ball Scholarship to honor Ball’s memory and industry contributions. Doug Ball, who served as Vice President of the SC&RA for more than 13 years, made many important contributions to the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry.
