SRUC believes that a foundation in agriculture can be applicable to many other future careers BOTH TEACHERS and farmers could play a much bigger role in ensuring more school pupils have the opportunity to learn about food and farming. Carla Coghlan is one year into her post as Schools Lead at SRUC and is passionate about ensuring that more children across Scotland can learn about the agricultural industry during their school education and believes getting teachers on board could be the best way to start. She told The SF that some teachers might shy away from teaching their pupils about farming as the language can sometimes be daunting and teachers might lack the confidence and knowledge to explore it with their classes.

University bids to help Glasgow pupils to become cyber security experts in the making

- A UNIVERSITY is helping coach the next generation of cyber security experts by supporting four secondary schools. Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is working with Glasgow City Council to provide more than 100 secondary school pupils and their teachers access to its technical infrastructure. The widening access partnership will allow teachers to develop learning materials and will provide students a platform to conduct digital forensic experiments as they work towards their National Progression Award in Cyber Security. In addition, GCU will run an online Cyber Futures session for the 100 pupils as part of Cyber Scotland Week, which runs from today until February 28.
