KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) sold 15,017 units of cars in April, a 0.18% increase month-on-month and equivalent to an estimated market share of 26.7%.
Its performance in April marked the third consecutive month of sales growth, Proton said in a statement today.
“Overall, Proton continued to strengthen its hold on the second position in the sales rankings table with market share for the year estimated at 24.4%, while overall volume now stands at 47,843 units for the first four months of the year,” the carmaker said.
It said the evergreen Proton Saga returned to the top of the national sales chart with 5,472 units sold in April.

Good news for the arts scene in Malaysia. The Cendana Recovery Initiatives programme, driven by the Cultural Economy Development Agency, awarded grants to 150 beneficiaries from the arts and culture industry recently.
A total of RM1.7mil was given out to beneficiaries from various sectors of the creative industry.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Izan Satrina Mohd Sallehuddin, the founding CEO of Cendana, attended the grant giving ceremony at KLPac on April 5.
The Cendana Recovery Initiatives was created to support performing arts, visual arts, independent music and craft sectors via seven funding programmes.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has approved a total of 7,266 applications for RM1.366 billion in loans under the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) initiative of the National Economic Regeneration Plan (Penjana) as of March 19, 2021.
Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz (
pix) said the government had allocated RM2 billion under the programme, which gave priority to SMEs that had never received a loan from a bank before.
As of March 26, the Bumiputera Relief Financing (BRF) fund introduced by Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) has been channelled to 749 SMEs involving a total of RM226.8 million compared to 675 SMEs with a total of RM195.2 million the previous week.
