RAWALPINDI: President Nixon’s Assistant for National Security Affairs, Dr Henry Kissinger, had brought a message from the US President for the President, Gen A.M. Yahya Khan. The contents of the message were not disclosed but a Foreign Office spokesman this evening told newsmen that it contained “no suggestions”. Dr Kissinger left here this evening 24 hours behind schedule for Teheran en route to Paris leaving a trail of mystery behind. Before leaving he had a luncheon meeting with the President. According to the Foreign Office spokesman, the talks that Dr Kissinger had here with President Yahya Khan and officials covered a wide range of subjects, including India-Pakistan relations. During the talks he was apprised of India’s hostile activities against this country and told of Pakistan’s views regarding the consortium’s Paris meeting. Staff correspondent

The President, Gen A.M. Yahya Khan, talking to Dr Henry Kissinger, Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs, when the latter called on him at the President’s House in Rawalpindi. RAWALPINDI: President Nixon’s Assistant for National Security Affairs, Dr Henry Kissinger, who arrived here this afternoon [July 8] from New Delhi, had informal one and a half hours of talks with President Yahya Khan this evening and stayed on with President for dinner. They are scheduled to have a formal round of talks at 11am tomorrow. On arrival at the airport this afternoon, Dr Kissinger was received among others by the President’s Economic Adviser, Mr M.M. Ahmed, the Foreign Secretary, Mr D.M. Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the USA, Mr Agha Hilaly, and the American Ambassador, Mr Joseph Farlanti.
