Three kayakers rescued from water off Saquish after capsizing Monday

Wicked Local PLYMOUTH – National Safe Boating Week got off to a challenging start Monday when three people capsized in kayaks off Saquish. Harbormaster Chad Hunter said life jackets almost certainly saved lives as two of the three people – teens visiting from out of state – spent at least 30 minutes in the chilly water between Saquish Point and Bug Light near the entrance to Plymouth Harbor. “They complained that they were really cold and could not feel their hands and legs,” Hunter said of the teens, who were immediately wrapped in blankets. “They were lethargic and not able to help. They had to be plucked out of the water.”
