The state-run National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC) will undertake construction of a 113-kilometre electricity transmission line from the Pak-Afghan border to Nowshera. The project is to be completed by the end of next year.

ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency and the National Transmission & Despatch Company both key federal entities have opposed transmission licence to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid System Company (KPTGC) that seeks to operate about 7300MW of power supply system in the province over a period of five to 10 years.
In response to comments sought by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) from stakeholders over the KPTGC’s request for grant of provincial transmission licence, the Punjab government has, however, supported the request while demanding that the proposed licence should ensure provision of minimum technical and human resource capital as and when required and the provincial transmission company should provide open access and participate in the wholesale electricity market.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will increase the electricity tariff by Rs1.95 per unit, Minister for Energy Omar Ayub announced on Thursday, as he blamed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regime for setting “land mines” for the ruling party.
Addressing a news conference accompanied by Minster for Planning and Development Asad Umar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Power Tabish Gohar, Ayub said the PTI government inherited capacity payments from the PML-N government.
The agreements, inked by the PML-N government with the power sector, were based on “bad intentions and corrupt practices”, he added. The minister said due to these deals, the increase in electricity tariff would have been Rs2.18 but the present government had decided to increase the rates by Rs1.95 in per unit.
