Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Jan 1 : The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has, suo-moto, issued show cause notices to various companies for misleading and misguiding advertisements during the Covid-19 pandemic, an official statement said on Friday. The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said that the CCPA has been taking proactive action for protecting the interest and rights of consumers. One of the functions of the CCPA envisaged in the Act is to review matters relating to, and the factors inhibiting the enjoyment of, consumer rights, including safeguards provided for the protection of consumers under any other law in force and recommend appropriate remedial measures for their effective implementation.

A dozen states start e-filing of plaints in consumer commissions | India News

NEW DELHI: Now consumers can file e-complaints in consumer commissions across a dozen states and UTs, instead of submitting complaints physically, making it easier for them to seek redressal of grievances. On Thursday, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh started e-filing of applications using “edaakhil.nic.in”. Delhi has already rolled it out while Punjab is to start this facility from next month. Union consumer affairs secretary Leena Nandan announced this during celebration of National Consumer Day. She said her ministry is pursuing with other states for a quick rollout of this facility and also to make the National Consumer Helpline number more popular for people to register their complaints.
